There are often goals in our life that we are not able to attain. But, one battle we mustn’t lose is our fight with cancer. The following advice will better prepare you for the fight against cancer.
Avoid the consumption of sugar to prevent the growth of cancer cells. Some evidence suggests that sugar helps cancer cells to thrive, so stop eating sugary foods. This method is not a substitute for your regular treatments, but it is a healthy choice for maintaining good nutrition as you fight cancer.
Remember that the vegetables and fruits you purchase may be contaminated. Farmers often douse crops with chemical pesticides and fertilizers to ward off insects and disease. Before you consume any fruits or vegetables, wash them thoroughly to rid them of poisons. You can also buy foods that are advertised to have less pesticides.
Speak up for yourself when necessary. Alot of people are in the dark, they are not aware of the latest information about cancer and actually may think it is a disease that could be transferred from you to them. Consider how you will respond to these questions in advance and address them immediately. It will give you control of the conversation and a little bit of confidence.
Consult cancer information, especially scientific journals, if you or a loved one suffers from cancer. Learning will give you the confidence you need.
A diagnosis of cancer can mean that you need to accept certain facts. Prepare yourself now to fight the good fight.
Establish honest and open lines of communication with those who are close to you. If it seems like your friends and family are not supporting you enough, politely bring up this topic with them. Just lay out the details about what you are going through and what type of help you need; the odds are excellent that they want to help you. Proceed with caution, however. This time is difficult. The basis should always be love. Be decisive!
Do not be afraid and make sure you stand up for yourself. This is not just any fight. You are fighting for your life. If you refuse to give up and stay motivated, your chances of beating cancer could increase.
Do not be fooled into believing that alcohol in any way helps to prevent cancer. However, wine may help, seeing as it is made from grapes. If you drink alcohol, you can be at risk for cancer.
If you’re experiencing stomach upset while on cancer treatment and medication, discontinue drinking coffee. Coffee’s caffeine can make these issues worse, so try to avoid drinking it. In addition, stay away from any caffeine, which can be found in chocolate and soft drinks.
If you are a relative of someone afflicted with cancer, then it is critical that you not treat them any differently than before or as you would anyone else. Cancer patients need all the positive energy from the loved ones as they can get, and when people feel sorry for them, they tend to feel bad about themselves.
When you are diagnosed with cancer, take the time to explain things to your friends and family openly and honestly. Remember that these people will want to support you, and that this is a time when you not only deserve, but need that support. You and your family can build strong bonds during this time if you allow total honesty and open communication to occur.
Skin Cancer
Before you spend time under the sun, it’s a good idea to cover your skin with either sunscreen or clothing in order to minimize your skin cancer risks. Ultraviolet rays have a damaging effect on the skin, and if not treated, skin cancer can be deadly. Ideally, you should use waterproof sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30; this is especially important for fair-skinned people who tend to burn in the sun.
Your doctor is required to discuss all possible side effects from your planned treatment, other available treatments and the probably result of choosing not to have any treatment for cancer. If you know what to expect, it will be easier to deal with. If you’re losing hair, speak to other patients about wigs and makeup to prepare just in case.
Cancer prevention is a much wiser path than treating an avoidable cancer after the fact. Skin cancer can be prevented by avoiding overexposure to the sun. In any instance when you will be spending a long period in the sun, apply an adequate sunscreen product to all areas of your skin.
Make time for fun in your life. Being diagnosed with cancer does not mean you have to fundamentally overhaul your life. You should take time to do things you genuinely enjoy, such as going to events or treating yourself to a new book. You might need to be extra cautious in your planning to make sure anything you do does not take too much out of you, but not enough to where you are not enjoying yourself.
Get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Cancer treatments are not easy on the body and may leave it feeling tired and overtaxed. You can feel a lot more energized, and heal a lot faster, with a good sleep. A daily nap can be beneficial as well.
Enjoy Doing
Life does not stop simply because you are sick. Stay involved and active with your regular tasks as much as possible. The things you enjoy doing are the things that you should keep as a part of your life. It will help you to stay positive and enjoy life more if you continue to do the things you enjoy doing.
Ovarian cancer is often treated with surgery and chemotherapy. You can have as little as one ovary removed or as much as an entire hysterectomy with lymphectomy. Chemotherapy is a drug-based treatment in which the cancer cells are killed by chemical substances. It’s generally done post-surgery, but many have it before.
Do everything you can to fight your cancer. Your life relies on it.
